SPAOH: The RM26.75 million Sungai Paku Bridge project in Tanjung Sebekut, Spaoh is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said that the construction is proceeding according to schedule.

He added that a rescue contractor was appointed to construct it a little over a month ago after the previous contractor fell short of expectations.

During his visit to the bridge site yesterday (Jan 28), Uggah who is also the Infrastructure and Port Development Minister, said the 100-metre long bridge is now five per cent completed

With piling works completed on one side, he noted that workers are currently doing the piling works on the opposite side of the Sungai Paku.

He was accompanied by Betong MP Dr Richard Rapu.

Earlier Uggah, who is also Bukit Saban assemblyman, paid Chinese New Year visits to a number of community leaders here.
