MIRI: A double storey shophouse has been razed in a fire at Jalan Kuching, Taman Tunku here on Saturday night.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the blaze, which destroyed 70 percent of the building structure, disclosed Miri Fire and Rescue Department zone six chief Supt Law Poh Kiong.
He said 12 firemen from both Lopeng and Miri Sentral fire stations were deployed to the scene upon responding to an emergency call at 9.30pm over the incident.
Their swift action prevented the fire from further spreading to nearby buildings.
The firemen managed to put the fire under controlled at 10.30pm.
Law added that the cause of fire and estimated value of losses incurred were still being investigated and ascertained.
