SIBURAN: Three unoccupied rooms in a three-storey shophouse caught fire at Mile 9, Jalan Kuching-Serian this afternoon.
A spokesman from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department said the incident happened around 1.25pm and no injuries or casualties were reported.
Firemen from Siburan and Batu Lintang stations were promptly despatched to the scene to commence extinguishing works.
Upon arriving, the team confirmed that the black smoke could be seen coming out from the first floor of the shophouse.
The fire, which destroyed 25 per cent of the first floor, was completely put out around 2.40pm.
Also present at the scene were the police and Sarawak Energy Berhad (SESCO) personnel.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
