KUCHING: Disinfection works were carried out in the commercial areas of Jalan Padungan, as well as shophouses along Carpenter Street by the Padungan Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) yesterday (Sept 19).

Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Kuching branch treasurer Jong Yean Pin said the disinfection works was done in view of number of positive Covid-19 cases reported in the area recently.

“We have previously handed over personal protective equipment (PPE) to the Bomba and its disinfection team.

“The purpose of the PPE is to ensure that they have enough supplies when carrying out disinfection works,” he explained.

According to Jong, the shopkeepers were appreciative of the efforts taken to curb the spread of Covid-19, so he thanked the Bomba for their prompt action after receiving a request from SUPP Kuching Branch.

While disinfection works are still ongoing, Jong advised the shopkeepers and residents to not let their guard down.
