SIBU: A woman was arrested for stealing groceries including cooking oil from a supermarket in Jalan Pahlawan yesterday.

The 23-year-old woman was caught red- handed by a security guard for walking out of the supermarket without paying for the items worth RM100.

Sibu OCPD, Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the security guard later handed her to the police.

“The stolen items recovered from her included a bottle of cooking oil, three packs of coffee powder, two bottles of shampoo, hair dye, six cans of food, five boxes of perfume, a pack of crackers and others.

“The suspect, who is from Kpg Seri Jaya, Batu 29, Selangau, has no previous criminal record,” he added.

During the incident, other members of the public were busy shopping for necessities due to concerns over the Covid-19 outbreak.
