KUCHING: Democratic Action Party (DAP) Serian has challenged Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) Sarawak support assembly chief Achau Mujah to prove that DAP Sarawak is Chinese-dominated.

Its youth chief Brolin Nicholsion, who is also special assistant to Padungan assemblyman Wong King Wei, said in fact many among DAP Sarawak leaders and members are Dayaks.

Nicholsion described Mujah as being hypocritical for saying that DAP was not qualified to speak on behalf of Sarawakians. He believes Mujah’s intention was to get media attention.

On DAP’s success in some Dayak-majority seats in the last parliamentary election in Sarawak, Nicholsion said it was mainly due to hard work and tireless efforts by its members who have been assisting the locals over the years way before the election was called.

“We’ve helped Sarawakians especially the Dayaks through our ‘Impian Sarawak’ programme. As a result, the Dayaks can accept DAP as a platform to voice out our concerns. As for PAS, what has it done for the Dayaks?” he said.

The DAP Serian youth chief then posed three questions for Mujah to ponder.

“One, will PAS apply the Hudud law to the Dayaks who are majority Christians; two, will PAS abolish all Dayak customs and culture to fit its Islamic policy and; finally, does PAS understand how to solve the ‘pamakai manoa’ and ‘pulau galau’ issue and what the Dayaks want?”
