SARAWAK ELECTION

KUCHING: Sarawak activist Francis Paul Siah said he has no intention to contest in the coming 12th State election.

Siah, 63, who contested in the Batu Lintang constituency under the STAR ticket in 1996, said it was past his time to contest as Sarawak politics needed more energetic candidates.

Asked whether he would be helping any parties during the election, Siah who is Movement for Change, Sarawak (MoCS) chairman said, “I will help individual friends, and not parties. I’m fed up of parties and coalition because I don’t believe in it anymore.”

He said he would only support individual friends whom he knew were sincere and working for the people.

“I don’t look at party or coalition anymore now, because you never know politicians keep jumping here and there and causing people to be confused,” he told reporters when met after the launch of his book entitled ‘Hijack in Malaysia: The Fall of Pakatan Harapan’ at Chemsian Auditorium, Rock Road on Saturday.

He said that he was helping the opposition during the 14th General Election (GE 14), but sadly, like many others, he was disappointed with what had happened.

“We don’t know who to vote for, if fact many have said they had enough of politics and they don’t even care to vote anymore because you never know what those elected will do next.

“It happened to Pakatan Harapan federal government, it is happening (to Warisan) in Sabah. These are very sad episodes in Malaysian history,” he said.
