SIBU: Police are tracking down two more individuals to assist in the investigation of a murder in Jalan Camar here.

Acting Sibu OCPD Supt Dr Collin Babat today said efforts to find the two suspects were underway.

He said another suspect had already surrendered at the Sibu Central Police Station after he was believed to have killed his friend on Wednesday (March 2).

Supt Collin said the 50-year-old suspect was an illegal immigrant from Badau, West Kalimantan who had lived in the state for the past 20 years.

The suspect is being remanded starting from Thursday (March 3) for 14 days to assist in the investigation of the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

“The suspect will also be investigated under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for not having valid documents and identification while in the state.”

Supt Collin said the 44-year-old victim was from Roban, adding that a post-mortem would be done soon to identify the real cause of death.

In an earlier report, the suspect along with the victim and two other friends were enjoying langkau (liquor) at an abandoned house in Jalan Camar around noon, Wednesday.

An altercation ensued during the drinking session resulting in the victim’s death at the scene.

At 4pm the same day, the suspect surrendered to the police.
