SIBU: The public who are going for the Covid-19 screening at Lanang Health Clinic here has been advised to adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Dr Teh Jo Hun

Sibu Division Health Officer Dr Teh Jo Hun said a large number of them have turned up at the clinic and has made it difficult for medical staff to control the situation, especially with regard to the SOPs.

“Yes, indeed those who come to the clinic to get screened were too many until it has created a situation where it was hard to control,” he said when met at the clinic.

He said some had ignored the instruction given by the health workers.

“I hope that the screening, which will be continued tomorrow (Jan 11), will run smoothly,” he said.

Dr Teh said the people had voluntarily gone to the clinic to be screened, however, he refused to comment any further on whether or not those are the people who had attended a funeral ceremony at Rumah Langi Ambau in Pasai Siong on Dec 29 to 31, which has led to the emergence of the Pasai Cluster.

“On that, I do not know who are those coming in to be screened today, but those who had attended the funeral ceremony would still have to undergo the screening as been told before,” he said.

Dr Teh also urged the public to always be patient and comply with the SOPs and instructions issued at the clinic.

“Lanang Health Clinic is open every day and the screening service is available for everyone,” he said.

On Saturday (Jan 9), the Sibu Division Health Department has urged those who had attended the funeral ceremony at Rumah Langi, Pasai Siong on Dec 29 to 31 to come forward and get screened for Covid-19 at two clinics, namely Lanang Health Clinic and Sibu Jaya Health Clinic.
