Sibu, Miri take squash titles

MIRI: Squash teams from Sibu and Miri shone in the just concluded state-level squash tournament held in Miri on Friday.

A total 33 young players aged 12, 15 and 18 from Kuching, Sibu and Miri, took part in the three-day event which kicked off on Feb 19.

The tournament closing ceremony was graced by assistant director of student development Mohamad Nazrin Ikmal Abdullah who represented the State Education director Azhar Ahmad.

Emerging overall championd in the boys category was Sibu and in the girls, Miri.

The event was jointly organised by SK Jalan Bintang, SMK Pujut and SJK(C) Chung Hua Krokop to select players to represent Sarawak in the coming squash tournament to be held in Kuantan Pahang next month.

According to the event spokesperson, a total 24 potential players would be selected to compete in the next Majlis Sukan Sekolah-sekolah Malaysia (MSSM).
