Sibu records highest number of cases on Friday

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 536 Covid-19 cases on Friday (June 18), raising the total number  in the state to 58,570.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in a statement, said 297 or 55.41 per cent of the total cases detected were in Sibu, Kuching, Kanowit, Bintulu and Bau districts.

Sibu recorded the highest number of cases at 115, followed by Kuching (60), Kanowit (52), Bintulu (40), Bau (30), Tebedu (28), Julau (24), Miri (21), Kapit (21), Sri Aman (17), Song (17), Sarikei (16), Pakan (14), Subis (13), Samarahan (10), Telang Usan (eight), Serian (eight), Beluru (seven), Sebauh (five), Lubok Antu (five), Tatau (four), Selangau (four), Meradong (four), Mukah (four), Asajaya (three), Bukit Mabong (there), Tanjung Manis (one) dan Dalat (one).

Of the total cases reported, 54 people had shown signs and experienced symptoms during screening.

Meanwhile, 547 cases have recovered and were allowed to be discharged from the respective hospital wards and Covid-19 Low Risk Quarantine and Treatment Centre (PKRC).

Of the total, 124 are from Bintulu, Kuching (94), Sibu (74), Kapit (73), Sri Aman (57), Miri (52), Sarikei (33), Serian (23), Mukah (12), and Betong (five).

This brings the total number of patients who have recovered and discharged to 48,132 or 82.18 per cent of the total cases in the state.

Meanwhile, 9,939 people are still receiving treatment and segregated in the PKRC and hospital wards.

Apart from that, 536 new person-under-investigations (PUI) were reported with none awaiting laboratory test results.
