Sibu records three deaths

KUCHING: Three new deaths were recorded in Sibu on Sunday (Feb 14), bringing the state’s death toll to 61.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said that the 59th death was a 52-year-old local woman who was admitted to Sibu Hospital due to breathing difficulties.

“Case 3,966 was screened through an rt-PCR test on Jan 27 and was found to be positive on Jan 28. Her health condition deteriorated, and she was pronounced dead on Saturday.

“She also had high blood pressure, diabetes, and kidney failure,” it said.

 The 60th death also involved a local woman who was admitted to Sibu Hospital due to breathing difficulties.

“Case 4,303 was a 73-year-old woman who was screened through an rt-PCR test on Jan 28 and she was found to be positive on Jan 29. Her health condition deteriorated, and she was pronounced dead on Saturday.

“The case had high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease. It was informed that the case is from the Pasai Cluster,” it said.

As for the 61st death, it was a 63-year-old local man who was admitted to Sibu Hospital due to breathing difficulties as well.

“Case 1,822 was screened through an rt-PCR test on Jan 13 and he was found positive on the same day. His health deteriorated and he was pronounced dead on Saturday.

“The case had high blood pressure and dyslipidaemia. It was informed that the case is also from the Pasai Cluster,” it added.
