KUCHING: In accordance with the movement control order (MCO) implemented in the Sibu division, all religious gatherings and activities in mosques and surau are suspended and the number of congregations will be limited to 12.

The Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS) urged Muslims to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the Sarawak Fatwa Committee Board (Lembaga Fatwa Negeri Sarawak — LFNS), Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), National Security Council (NSC) and Ministry of Health (MoH).

Those who didn’t make the quota are urged to drop the obligatory congregational Friday prayers and instead perform the obligated Fardhu Zohor Prayer with four rak’ahs.

This was decided due to the concern of rising Covid-19 cases in Sibu.

This directive is effective from Jan 16 (today) until the MCO is lifted by the SDMC.
