SIBU: A large-scale active case detection (ACD) exercise will be held here next week.

Sibu Division Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) coordinator Dr Annuar Rapaee said this is due to the increasing number of positive Covid-19 cases in the Tiong Hua Zone. Hence the ACD is essential to detect new positive cases.

“In a meeting, we have decided to conduct a swab screening test for all residents in the Tiong Hua Zone as early as next week because we do not want any of the residents to be left behind.

“We will do our best to reduce the number of daily cases in the zone by detecting those who are positive for the virus as soon as we can.

“Residents can also go to the nearest private medical centre as we will not set the venue for screening this time,” the Assistant Minister of Local Government and Housing explained today.

Dr Annuar also explained that the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) was not imposed in the Tiong Hua Zone due to several reasons, one of which was most of those living in the zone were tenants of houses in the area.

“What we are trying to do now is ensure that there is no further increase in cases from the zone in the next few days,” he said.

Earlier, the Nangka assemblyman received his dose of Covid-19 vaccine at the Klinik Kesihatan Lanang.
