Sibu ‘Ummah Gemilang’ attracts 10,000

SIBU: More than 10,000 people from 94 contingents participated in the Sibu Division Maulidur Rasul Celebration here yesterday.

Themed ‘Ummah Gemilang’, the procession started from the Sibu Islamic Complex led by Education, Science and Technological Research Assistant Minister Dr Annuar Rapa’ee.

Also present were Sibu Municipal Council chairman Clarence Ting, Sibu Resident Charles Siaw, Temenggong Datuk Wan Hamid Edruce and other dignitaries.

The participants from public and private sectors; members of organisations and associations; and students from higher learning institutions (IPT), secondary schools and primary schools began to gather at the complex’s compound as early as 6am.

The procession was also accompanied by a banner composition created by the participants based on their creativity.

In addition, the parade was also attended by the multi-racial and religious community in Sibu.
