KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud yesterday received two courtesy calls from the Sarawak Silat Association or ‘Rumpun Silat Sarawak’ (RSS) delegation and Sarawak State Commissioner of Police (CP) Datuk Ramli Din, at Demak Jaya in Petra Jaya here.

The RSS delegation led by its president Muhamad Haneef Ali comprised RSS supreme council members and the Kuching Regional Silat Teachers. It was aimed at introducing the new RSS committee.

The call was also aimed at informing Taib about several upcoming programmes involving associations such as the Sarawak Silat Teachers Association which were expected to be held on March 13.  Sarawak will host the World Silat Championship on July 22.

Taib receives a token of appreciation from Ramli.

Meanwhile, Ramli’s visit was to inform the Head of State of his transfer to the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) Bukit Aman headquarters after being in Sarawak for three months.

His duties would be taken over by the new CP Datuk Aidi Ismail who was previously the Terengganu CP.

The Sarawak Police Commissioner’s handing over of duties ceremony will be held on Feb 18 at the Sarawak contingent police headquarters.
