KUCHING: Silent Run 4.0, organised by Sarawak Deaf Sports Association (SSDeaf) will support the training and preparation of deaf athletes in the state for upcoming competitions.

SSDeaf president Ko Ming Liang said this was in view of ASEAN Games in Indonesia at the end of the year and the Deaflympics, which will be held in Japan next year.

“This run will secure funding and support the preparation of athletes for future deaf sports events.

“We would like to establish quality training programmes and talent development programmes to build competitive deaf sports teams and to create public awareness of our deaf athletes’ participation in sporting events.

“We hope the public will support the run, which will benefit deaf athletes representing Sarawak in future sporting events,” he said.

He conveyed this through an interpreter during a press conference at the Sarawak Society for the Deaf building yesterday.

“We hope that with the public’s support, we will reach our target of 1,000 runners or more for both the Kuching and Miri runs,” Peter added.

The registration fees are divided into three packages: Package A, which includes a medal, T-shirt, and bib, costs RM45 at the early bird rate or RM50 at the normal rate; Package B, which includes a T-shirt and bib only, costs RM30 for early birds and RM35 at the normal rate; and Package C, which includes a medal and bib only, also costs RM30 for early birds and RM35 at the normal rate.
