KUCHING: The district of Simunjan is now a Covid-19 red zone, said the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

It said the declaration came after 51 new Covid-19 cases were registered in the district within the past 14 days.

“Meanwhile, the district of Selangau reverted to yellow from orange status after recording only 20 cases within the past 14 days,” it said in its daily statement on Sunday (Jul 25).

SDMC said the number of red zones in the state is now at 19, followed by five orange zones, 13 yellow zones and three green zones.

Additionally, the committee said the State Health Department had also declared the end of two Covid-19 clusters.

It said the clusters include the Kampung Muara Tebas Cluster and the Jalan Stampin Cluster.

“No new case was detected or reported involving these clusters within 28 days,” it explained.

SDMC said there are currently 88 active clusters located throughout the state.
