KUCHING: The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) yesterday received a sum of RM100,000 from Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers (Sheda) for Sarawak’s frontliners who are curbing the spread of Covid-19.

The handover ceremony was held at the SDMC operation room, with Sheda president Dr Christopher Ngui presenting the cheque to SDMC chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

The Sarawak government’s multi-pronged initiatives in fighting against the virus spread and protecting the people from the pandemic was praised by the association.

Sheda gave its contribution under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiatives in support of the government. The money was a collection from the state Sheda and its branches in Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri.

Dr Christopher said the contribution is specially to help the frontliners in their battle against the virus.

“We hope this goodwill gesture will boost the spirit of our frontliners and reinforce the people’s appreciation and acknowledgement of their commitment, dedication and contributions,” he said, adding that Sheda Miri and Bintulu will launch the CSR initiative in their respective regions.
