KUCHING: There will be a new scenario in Sarawak water supply system in the 12th Malaysia Plan, said Utilities Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom.

According to him, the water supply system under the 12th Malaysia Plan is part of his ministry’s 50-year master plan.

He said managing the operation for water supply in Sarawak would be similar to Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB).

“We are going to have a single entity to operate and manage water supply for the whole of Sarawak.

“This will follow the module used by SEB in operating and managing our power supply,” he said when met by reporters during his official visit at the Batu Kitang Water Treatment Plant here today.

Dr Rundi also said that he would be tabling the matter under the new Sarawak Water Ordinance during the next State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting next year, if he still helms the Utilities ministry.
