KUCHING: A recently divorced single father sought help from Hope Place Kuching for himself and his two schooling kids.
The charitable non-governmental organisation (NGO) disclosed that Simon Petrus Tinggon works as a daily paid construction worker and is living with his children aged nine and 13 at Stampin Baru.
Through a press statement today, Hope Place said the three of them are living in an old rundown wooden house which belongs to Simon’s family, and he has been living there since he was a little boy.
“Back in 2020 because of the movement control restrictions, Simon lost his job and he was unable to pay the electricity bills. Hence, his house does not have any electricity supply for more than two years.
“Upon close inspection, we also found that the toilet and bathroom does not have any proper walls. There is only a partition made from a canvas draping covering each section,” said the statement.
Hope Place said it is currently supplying the family with some basic food aid and it will also look into helping Simon with his house in the future.
