KUCHING: Single mothers can now apply for the National Economic Recovery Plan (Penjana) one-off financial assistance of RM300, revealed Assistant Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Rosey Yunus.

They need to register with the Department of Women Development (JPM), Social Welfare Department (JKM) and National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN) under the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development.

“Single mothers who are not registered as financial aid recipient under JKM can apply for this assistance through JKM’s website at www.jpw.gov.my before Oct 31 this year,” Rosey told a press conference after chairing a meeting on the Penjana  assistance  with JPM  and the Women and Family Department (JWKS) at Wisma Wanita in Semariang here on Tuesday  (June 23).

The assistance will be distributed from July until November 2020.

“The RM300 will be credited into the bank accounts of registered single mothers whose income levels are below the poverty line of RM960,” she added.

Rosey explained wives who became breadwinners of their families due to their husbands’ health conditions were also eligible for the one-off aid.

“The status of the application will be announced via system text messaging (SMS),” she said.

For manual application, she said applicants must submit relevant documents and rejected applications could be appealed via JPM portal.

“Applications must be submitted with supporting documents such as copies of ICs, copies of bank statements, copies of marriage or divorce or death certificates, copies of children’s birth certificates or ICs (children who are still single and not married), and copies of salary slips verified by employers or community leaders,” she added.
