BAU: For the first time ever, the Pekan Siniawan Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) on Friday held an open house in conjunction with Chap Goh Mei (15th day of Chinese New Year) celebration here.

Pekan Siniawan JKKK Youth chief Dylan Lai, said, “For this year’s Chap Goh Mei celebration, we are working with the Sarawak Tourism Federation (STF) and the Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) to hold an open house.

“The agencies often organise open houses in conjunction with major festivals in Sarawak such as Gawai, Hari Raya, Christmas and Chinese New Year and this time, Siniawan is selected for Chap Goh Mei,” he told reporters at the event.

Lai said he was very happy with the cooperation.

“Pekan Siniawan was chosen to promote tourism products available in the state. Therefore, we expect more visitors to come here and understand the customs and culture of the Hakka people here,” he said.
