Six family members arrested for gang-robbery

MIRI: A family fight turned ugly on Sunday when six individuals including two women were detained for allegedly committing a gang-robbery.

The suspects, aged 20-, 24-, 25-, 26-, 29- and 44-year-olds, were apprehended by the police around 2.30pm following on a report lodged by the victim.

Earlier that day, around noon, the suspects were reported to have barged into a house in a house at RPR 2 Permaisuri Permyjaya occupied by the wife of their late cousin and began attacking her before fleeing off with a car and two units of cell phones belonging to the victim.

Following the incident, the 26-year-old victim filed a police report which led to the arrest of all the six suspects involved in the incident.

According to Miri Police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari, the arrest was made at around 2.30pm that same day.

The arrest also led to the recovery of the stolen cell phones.

In the incident, it was alleged that the victim and her father were also attacked by the suspects.

The case is being investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code for gang-robbery.
