MIRI: Six people were found to be driving under the influence of alcohol during a roadblock conducted by the Miri Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BPSTD) on Jan 25.

According to Miri Deputy Police Chief Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol, police conducted the roadblock at SJR Jalan Miri/Pujut from midnight until 4.30am.

He said that the Evidential Breath Analyser (EBA) was tested on the six drivers.

He added the cases would be investigated under Section 45 of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Sabri disclosed that 23 traffic summonses were issued for various offences while four vehicles were also ordered to undergo inspections by JPJ.

A total of 37 officers and members of the Sarawak Police Contingent Traffic Investigation and Enforcement, Miri BSPTD, Miri Criminal Investigation Department, Miri Narcotics Crime Investigation Department, and Miri JPJ took part in the roadblock.
