Six held for breaking into kindy office

BINTULU: Six local male suspects, including a 14-year-old teenager, were arrested by police for breaking into a kindergarten office here on Monday afternoon.

Bintulu police Chief Supt Zulkipli Suhaili said in a press statement yesterday that the first three suspects aged between 14 and 23 were arrested at Jalan Sibiyu at 4.30pm during ‘Ops Pintu’ led by Insp Nixon Malang.    

“These arrests led to the arrest of three other suspects between the ages of 22 and 34 at 5.15pm,” he said.

He added that with the arrest of all suspects, police recovered several stolen items including a computer desktop set comprising a monitor, a CPU, a mouse and cable, three wall clock units and a fan from a house in Kampung Sibiyu.

Zullipli said three of the suspects also had previous criminal records.

Earlier, around 9.14am, a report was lodged by the kindergarten school teacher at the police station about a burglary incident that occurred at 6.30am.

Among the items reported stolen were a set of printer machine, a set of desktop computer, a radio, an electric cable,a toilet door, an aluminum ladder and a   wall clock valued at RM5,000.

The case will be investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for breaking into a house. All suspects have been remanded in custody for seven days until January 14.

If convicted, all of them face up to 14 years in prison plus fines and whipping.
