KOTA SAMARAHAN: The First Malaysian Infantry Division has caught six Indonesian immigrants attempting to cross the border illegally today (Oct 12).

According to reports, at 12.15 pm, members on patrol in the Biawak sector observed five men and one woman in suspicious circumstances resting in a hut located 100 metres from the Malaysia-Indonesia border.

“Upon examination, all suspects were identified as illegal Indonesian immigrants without valid passports and work permits in Malaysia.

“Through investigation and questioning, it was found that they were attempting to enter Malaysia for work through an unauthorised border crossing.

“Further inspection revealed no prohibited or dangerous items were found. The confiscated items included IDR2,433,000 in Indonesian currency, six mobile phones valued at RM 5,300 and a total of six bags worth RM600, making the total seizure amount to RM6,530,” it said.

It added that all items were handed over to the local police at the Lundu District Police Headquarters for further investigation, and the six illegal Indonesian immigrants were taken to the Aruk Post border point by security forces for deportation.
