Six junkies nabbed in ‘Ops Cegah’ raid

Nada enforcement officers detain substance abusers in a raid at an empty building along Jalan Haji Taha.

KUCHING: National Anti-Drug Agency (Nada) officers detained six junkies in an operation dubbed ‘Ops Cegah’ along Jalan Haji Taha here last Thursday.

The agency said the raid was conducted in an empty building which has been identified as a hotbed for drug abuse activities following numerous raids in the vicinity.

Acting on public complaints and intelligence conducted, a total of 12 personnel took part in the operation, which was also participated by Nada Sarawak deputy director Winnie Lugit.

During the raid, the team managed to nab three men and three women, believed to be substance users.

All of them aged between 30 and 40 years, tested positive for syabu. They will be investigated under Section 3(1) of the Drug Dependence (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983.

The agency has advised the public not to engage in any activities related to drug processing, supply, smuggling, sales and addiction.
