THE Education, Science and Technological Research Ministry will organise a series of workshops to further deliberate on the incentive fund to help Sarawakian borrowers repay their PTPTN loans.

Assistant Minister Dr Annuar Rapaee said the workshops would help the ministry come up with the right mechanism.

“We need to delve more into the details on how it will be implemented.

“This will need a series of discourse with university students and academicians as well as related institutions,” he told the media at the State Legislative Assembly building.

However, Annuar could not elaborate more on the channel that would be used to implement the initiative.

“At the moment we cannot name any specific mechanism. But the chief minister has given us six months to find the right mechanism on repaying the PTPTN loans,” he said.

On Monday, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg announced that the state government had allocated RM30mil in the State 2020 Budget to assist graduates who were PTPTN borrowers repay their loans.
