KUCHING: A total of six more minor rural projects (MRPs) in the shape of Sarawak Home Improvement Project for the Poor (PPRMS) in Tanjung Datu were completed recently.

Tanjung Datu assemblywoman Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu said PPRMS is an initiative by the state government to ensure that rural dwellers are able to enjoy a comfortable house and one that is safe to accommodate.

She said that the project recipients should be thankful to the state government for their selection for the projects.

Among the recipients are Roni Asri of Kampung Sebat Baru who received RM8,000 for roof repair and repainting along with Mojer Saie who received RM6,000 for the same home improvement.

Meanwhile, Patrick Limat and Tovina Mat of Kampung Sebat Dayak received RM15,000 and RM8,000 respectively for roof repair and repainting.

Yalen Hamzah of Kampung Sebat Melayu shed tears following approval of this application.  He received RM8,000 for roof repair and repainting as well.

Rajjah Mat whose house is in need of repair also received RM10,000 and expressed thanks to the state government and Jamilah for helping her family to get the needed repair for their house.

All of the PPRMS projects are monitored by implementing agency Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak and Tanjung Datu PPRMS committee.

Also present were Tanjung Datu PBB executive committee members including its deputy branch chief Abu Seman Karim, women chief Fatimah Abdullah and youth chief Azizul Annuar Adenan.
