KUCHING: A total of six motorcycles were seized by the Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ) yesterday (Jan 27) during its Ops Khas Motosikal, which was held in conjunction with Chinese New Year.

Apart from that, 124 summonses were also issued to motorcyclists for various offences at the operation.

Among the offences are riding without a licence, riding with an expired road tax, and riding without both road tax and insurance.

The state section operation chief Saifullah Ali led the operation that was conducted along Jalan Kuching-Serian.

In a Facebook post, JPJ urged road users to abide by the traffic rules set to ensure safety and reduce the rate of accidents and deaths on the road.

The department also reminded road users to check the validity of their licences, especially before getting behind the wheel.
