Six new deaths take state’s total to 207

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded six new deaths related to Covid-19 infection today (May 8), taking the state’s toll to 207.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the 202nd death was Case 21,011, a 70-year-old local man who was admitted to Bintulu Hospital due to coughing and having pain in his abdomen two days prior.

“A reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (rT-PCR) test was done on it and the result was positive on Apr 13,” they said in a statement today.

They said the man who had high blood pressure and diabetes passed away on May 3. He was linked to Sungai Selitut Cluster.

As for the 203rd death (Case 33,624), the committee said he was a 59-year-old local man who was referred to Kapit Hospital as he was found unconscious at home.

“Antigen Rapid Test Kit (RTK-Antigen) and rT-PCR tests were done on him and found positive on May 5. He passed away on May 5,” they said.

SDMC said the man had high blood pressure, diabetes, dyslipidemia, and stroke. His death was categorised as Brought In Dead (BID).

The 204th death was Case 30,979, a local man aged 57 who was referred to Sibu Hospital from the Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) as he was found unconscious.

“He had fever, diarrhoea, and loss of appetite. An rT-PCR test was done on Apr 27 the result came back positive for Covid-19,” they said, adding that he passed away on May 5. His comorbidities were high blood pressure, diabetes, and gout.

Regarding the 205th death — Case 34,065 — she was an 87-year-old local woman who was referred to Sibu Hospital after having fever and had difficulty breathing for a week.

The rT-PCR test done on May 5 returned a Covid-19 positive result. She passed away on May 6.

Her comorbidities were high blood pressure, diabetes, dyslipidemia, and kidney disease.

As for death 206th (Case 34,228), he was a 90-year-old local man was taken to Saratok Hospital for emergency treatment. He was coughing and had loss of appetite.

He tested positive for Covid-19 on May 6 and passed away on May 7. His comorbidities were high blood pressure, diabetes, dyslipidemia, and kidney disease.

Case 20,224 (the 207th death) was a 70-year-old local man who was referred to Sibu Hospital after having fever, cough, and body fatigue.

“A Rapid Molecular test was done on him and and was found positive for Covid-19 on Apr 11. He passed away on May 8. His comorbidities were high blood pressure, diabetes, dyslipidemia, gout, and kidney disease.
