KUCHING: A total of six organisations received contributions of RM5,000 each during ‘Ash Shakur’ spiritual programme here.
The organisations are Sarawak Orphan Children Welfare Association (Peryatim); Ajibah Abol Children’s Home, Sri Aman; SMK Tun Abang Haji Openg orphans and asnaf; Rumah Sri Kenangan Kuching; Sarawak Society for the Blind (SSB) and Sekolah Kebangsaan Gersik Kuching.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg handed over the contributions to the recipients at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) complex on Friday night.
The programme was organised by Sarawak Arts Council and the State Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (MTAC).
Earlier, Abang Johari watched performances by Sarawak Symphony Orchestra (SONS) and various artistes.
He was accompanied by Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, DUN Speaker Datuk Amar Mohd Asfia Awang Nassar, Deputy State Secretary Datuk Dr Sabariah Putit and MTAC permanent secretary Hii Chang Kee.
