Six projects being implemented in Telaga Air

TELAGA AIR: A total of six projects worth RM250,000 have been approved in Telaga Air zone.

Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Datuk Seri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar revealed that among the projects approved, were the construction of additional water supply channel to Kampung Jaya Bakti, a road project from Jalan Baru to Pangkalan Nelayan, Futsal court and football field for Kampung Selang Laut and the upgrading project of the village’s multipurpose hall.

“We have also approved the construction of a petanque court for Kampung Ulu, the construction of a 260-ft bridge for Kampung Sungai Aur and the construction of Telaga Air mosque,” he said during a luncheon with community leaders and members of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Telaga Air, here yesterday.

Another project, the construction of parking site at Kampung Telaga Air waterfront, will cost about RM180,000.

“I have brought engineers from Kuching to review the parking site project and the construction will start soon to facilitate people visiting Kampung Telaga Air.

“What we see now is that the parking space in this area is not enough because every day this place is full with tourists, whether from inside or outside the state, and once the construction starts, it will be easier for the community to carry out their daily activities,” he said.

Wan Junaidi pointed out that the jetty at Kampung Telaga Air had to be repaired to facilitate the fishermen in carry out their daily activities.

“Students also use the facility and if the jetty is repaired, it will be safe for the students and the fishermen to use.

“The construction of the esplanade is in the process and will be an icon for Kampung Telaga Air, while for the mosque, it is being upgraded and expected to be completed before Ramadan this year,” he added.
