KUCHING: A 37-year-old man who pleaded guilty to raping a minor was today sentenced to six years’ jail and two strokes of the cane.
Session Court judge Maris Agan meted out the sentence on Iskandar Lasot after he pleaded guilty to the charge under Section 376 (1) of the Penal Code.
Iskandar, from Kampung Loba Kandung, Jalan Taman Kehidupan Liar Matang, was arrested following a report by the victim’s mother.
The 33-year-old housewife found out that her 13-year-old daughter was taken by the man on Feb 21 at 3.40pm and was returned home at 11.30pm the next day.
She lodged a police report on Feb 24.
Iskandar committed the offence in a shed near a shrimp pond at Jalan Rambungan, Lundu between Feb 21 and 22.
