BELAWAI: Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Abang Gesa students are set to have a new open hall for planning school events soon.

Tanjung Manis Member of Parliament Ir Yusuf Abdul Wahab said such a provision needed to be undertaken after the condition of the school was found to be inadequate in terms of a large hall especially for organising activities.

“Every school has its shortcomings and does not have a perfect special hall except the dining hall.

“Therefore, I will include a hall project for SK Abang Gesa in the upcoming allocation,” he said.

He said this when officiating at the Al-Quran Khatam ceremony of SK Abang Gesa, here, on Thursday.

Commenting further, he said, discussions would be held with the Public Works Department (PWD) to assess the necessary allocations.

“This application also needs to be done through the Rural Transformation Programme Project (RTP) or People Friendly Project (PMR),” he explained.

Touching on the ceremony, he said, the involvement of students of all ages in the Khatamal Al-Quran programme will give children confidence in reading and appreciating the contents of the Quran.

“This is because the practice of reading the Quran can produce Muslims who obey religious laws and practice them in their daily lives.

“Not only that, but it also produces Qari and Qariah who can represent Tanjung Manis in the future,” he added.

In the meantime, he also approved an allocation of RM3,000 to the school to purchase a set of Digital Learning System units to complement the existing facilities.

Also present were headmaster of SK Abang Gesa Allawee Sidek and principal of SMK Belawai Shariff Umar.
