Slight increase in new cases

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 3,743 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday (Sept 11), ten cases more compared to the previous day’s tally of 3,734 cases.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said 3,735 or 99.79 percent of the new cases comprised Category 1 and 2 patients while only eight cases were in Category 3, 4, and 5.

Kuching district accounted for the highest number of cases yet again at 1,405; followed by Sibu (420); Bintulu (311); Samarahan (214); Bau (158); Sri Aman (146); Miri (122); Saratok (98); Betong (87); Simunjan (83); Lundu (75); Asajaya (74); Kapit (63); Serian (56); Sarikei (54); Song (46); Beluru (45); Pusa (39); Tebedu (33); Limbang (32); Belaga (27); Julau (22); Lawas (21); Subis (20); Lubok Antu (19); Selangau (18); Sebauh (15); Meradong (13); Bukit Mabong (11); Kanowit (six); Pakan (four); Tatau (three); Marudi (two); Telang Usan (one).

With this, the state has 151,507 cumulative Covid-19 positive cases to date.

Of the new cases, 2,749 were individuals who had close contact with positive cases, 251 were individuals in existing clusters, 447 were from the screening of symptomatic individuals at health facilities and 293 were from other screenings at health facilities.

Three cases were Import B cases where two were returning from Sabah and one returning from Kedah.

SDMC also reported 2,760 new recoveries who were discharged from hospitals and low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRCs) statewide.

This brings the number of recovered and discharged cases to 113,148 or 74.68 percent of the total number of cases in Sarawak. There are still 37,508 active cases.
