KUCHING: Sarawak’s development and economic outlook looks good as it is developing and progressing steadily.

Stakan assemblyman Datuk Seri Mohammad Ali Mahmud, who made this observation, said the state administration under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is doing everything it can to power the state forward.

There is no shortcut, no leapfrogging, but slow and steady wins the race, and Sarawakians know this although it might not be obvious to the casual observer.

The government is determined, brave and quite ambitious, but in its “Sarawak for Sarawakians” quest it badly needs the support of the people to implement its programmes.

Speaking during Stakan’s Gawai-Raya get-together held at Imperial Hotel last Saturday night, Ali said Sarawakians are blessed as people of different ethnic groups and religions live side by side without undue conflict.

“This year is quite an opportunity for us to celebrate Gawai and Raya in the same week.

On the development of Kota Samarahan and Samarahan Division, he pointed out that three projects have already been implemented.

“These are the Integrated National Samarahan Development, Rural Transformation Project (RTP) and Special Transformation Project (STP),” he said.

He also reiterated that Kota Samarahan is aptly known as a centre of knowledge and that it is something that young Sarawakians should capitalise on.

“Therefore, I urge community leaders to keep their eyes on the progress of the youths and guide them pursue higher and better education.

“Being in and around the centre of knowledge, the locals should use the associated or attendant opportunities for their own and their community’s benefit, and to empower Sarawak even further into the future,” he said.
