SM Sains Miri champs yet again

MIRI: SM Sains Miri retained their Cadet Bomba championship title for the second year in a row.

Once again claiming their place as champions of the tournament, the school also earned the Top Best awards for the Boy’s and Girl’s categories in a safety and emergency challenge inter-school competition held recently.

Amongst the schools that took part in the event were Kolej Tun Datu Tuanku Haji Bujang; SM Sains Miri; SMK Agama Miri; SMK Bekenu; SMK Baru Miri; SMK Merbau; SMK Tinjar Baram; SMK Taman Tunku and SMK Lutong.

The objectives of the competition are to equip participants with knowledge regarding emergency medical services, fire safety training as well as to build up good rapport among participants.

SM Sains Miri won five out of six categories. Amirul Hakimi Jumasrianshah and Stephanie Olivia Jeffry were named as the best cadets in the Boy’s and Girl’s categories respectively, beating out 198 other participants from nine secondary schools.

Second was Kolej Tun Datu Tuanku Haji Bujang, followed by SMK Bekenu in third place.

According to Miri Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief Supt Law Poh Kiong, the event is also aimed to select participants to represent Miri in the state-level competition.
