KUCHING: Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah went on a walkabout at the Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) open day here at the SMA Creative Heritage Innovation Centre (CHIC) Yayasan Sarawak building yesterday.

Accompanied by Deputy State Secretary Datuk Dr Sabariah Putit, Abdul Karim spent about half an hour visiting 17 stalls and booths at the pedestrian walk.

Upon his arrival, he had consented to wear a tengkolok (traditional Malay male headgear) — a gift by the organiser.

The four-day event aimed to introduce SMA as a driver for digital economy initiatives throughout the state and to let the public know on the importance and progress milestones of Sarawak Digital Economy Strategy via Digital Economy Gallery exhibition.

Apart from that, the event also showcased cultural and digital creative entrepreneurial opportunities, including e-sports game competitions.
