KUCHING: Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) is offering free access to university students to use its Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH) located in various parts of Sarawak.

According to a media release yesterday, SMA said this initiative enables students to have reliable and fast interest access and a conducive work space to their assignments and tasks during the recovery movement control order (RMCO) period.

The DIH can be accessed by students starting from July 6, 2020 until further notice.

Access to the DIH is on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis so as to ensure compliance to the standard operating procedure (SOPs).

University students are encouraged to contact the respective DIH operator to book their slots.

For SMA Tegas DIH in Kuching, Bintulu and Miri, students can do bookings at their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/TEGASdigital/ or email at hello@innovatesarawak.com.

They can also book their slot at the SMA Creative Heritage Innovation Centre Kuching’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/smachicmy or email at hello@chic.my.

The DIH is part of the Sarawak Digital Economy Strategy 2018-2022 spearheaded by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

It provides co-working and event spaces for startups and entrepreneurs to work, conduct trainings and develop their ideas.

Today, there are five DIH across Sarawak with two in Kuching, and one each in Sarikei, Bintulu and Miri.

For the other divisions, they are in development stage and are expected to be fully operational by end of second quarter in 2021.
