KUCHING: Sarawak Media Group (SMG) and Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak (SUTS) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Wednesday (Mar 31) to kick off a series of collaborations including expertise exchange, training, curriculum development and internship opportunities.
The collaboration aimed to benefit both parties, students and the community as a whole by providing training opportunities for both Swinburne and public participants, internships and placements and collaborating with SMG in developing creative contents for the company’s distribution platforms.
The MoU exchange between SMG Chief Executive Officer Suhaimi Sulaiman and Swinburne’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor & Chief Executive Officer, Professor John Wilson was witnessed by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
“We believe that SMG is an ideal place to nurture and share our experiences with students because the transition from study to work is easier. This ensures a smooth adjustment and complete industry preparation,” said Suhaimi.
At the same time, he added, SMG served as a training ground for students to be creative and excel in their fields.
Also present to witness the MoU exchange were Education, Science and Technological Research Minister Datuk Amar Michael Manyin Jawong and Swinburne Sarawak Board of Directors chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Morshidi Abdul Ghani.
