KUCHING: Demak Laut assemblyman Dr Hazland Abang Hipni has praised SMK Bako for its excellent achievement in the recent Malaysian High School Certificate (STPM) examination.
“SMK Bako once again is successful in the field of education when it managed to emerge as the third best among the 11 top schools in Sarawak in STPM 2020 which recorded a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.00 and above.
“This success is definitely rewarding for students, teachers and parents who have contributed to this success.
“The cooperation of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) also led to this success,” he said.
In the results released on Thursday, SMK Bako ranked third best among schools in Sarawak when it managed to record a CGPA of 3.19.
Meanwhile, the PTA chairman Ali Mat Sah, when contacted, also expressed his happiness over the success which he described as extraordinary for a rural school.
“The school administration, especially teachers and school staff, are very committed and dedicated in meeting the needs of students and increasing more subject training through online learning,” he said.
He said the parents had played a huge role, too ensuring that their children achieve success and further their studies at institutions of higher learning.
“Also, the most important is the support of elected representatives such as Dr Hazland who provides an annual allocation to the PTA to conduct training and further improve the quality of learning,” he added.
