BALINGIAN: The proposed Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Balingian project is in the tendering process, said deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib.

It is understood that the locals, who have been waiting for about two decades for a school to be built at their area, are now looking forward to the project to materialise soon.

Hanifah, who is also Mukah MP, in the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) online report on Monday said that the proposed project is in process and would be implemented soon.

“It has been agreed upon and in the process of tendering, she was quoted as saying at the ‘Santai Bersama YB Dato Hajah Hanifah Hajar Taib’ programme here on Saturday (June 27).

Meanwhile, she urged constituents to use a proper channel so that Mukah Parliament Service Centre could assess any application for upgrading or construction of infrastructure in their respective areas.

The proposed residential school was reported to cost about RM60 million, and to cater for students in this sub-district and nearby areas.
