MUKAH:  Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) St Patrick has begun making necessary preparations to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) before schools reopen on June 24 nationwide.

New Sarawak Tribune on Monday found the teachers and supporting staff busy with the preparations which included providing room in the school compound for social distancing as required under the SOPs.

“Yes, we are preparing for the SOPs before school reopens next week,” one of the teachers, identified only as Denis, said.

Last Saturday (June 13), Mukah Fire and Rescue Department sanitised all the school buildings including classrooms, teachers’ rooms and other rooms.

On June 10, Senior Minister (Education) Dr Radzi Jidin announced that schools would reopen on June 24 after being closed for three months following the implementation of the movement control order (MCO) since March 18 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

He, however, said classes were confined to Form 5 and Form 6 students who would be sitting for public examinations at the end of this year.
