Smooth Valentine’s Day session

KUCHING: The first day of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) special session on Valentine’s Day today went on smoothly.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg arrived at the DUN Complex at around 9am.

He was accompanied by his wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang.

DUN Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar’s wife Puan Sri Datin Amar Fatimah Mohd Iskandar and Deputy Speaker Datuk Idris Buang, who is also Muara Tuang assemblyman also accompanied the duo.

The day started with the oath-taking ceremony by 79 out of 82 assemblypersons who were elected in the 12th state election on Dec 18, 2021.

The ceremony took place at 9.23am with Abang Johari being the first to take his oath, followed by the rest of the state assemblypersons.

The oath-taking ceremony finished at around 11.55am with full compliance to the standard operating procedures (SOPs).

The House adjourned at 12.11pm and will resume tomorrow with the first reading of five government Bills.

The Bills are Supplementary Supply (2021) Bill, 2022; Constitution of the State of Sarawak (Amendment) Bill, 2022; Interpretation (Amendment) Bill, 2022; Sago and Nipah Development Board Bill, 2022; and Sarawak Rubber Industry Board Bill, 2022.
