MIRI: A ground check by Miri mayor Adam Yii yesterday on the arrangement and compliance of social distancing at some of the supermarkets in this district found that there is much to improve on.

Yii reminded them to adhere to the rules and regulation set up by the government to help curb the spread of Covid-19, and that enforcement teams would return to inspect.

“There were reports of chaos and non-compliance.

“They should ensure that customers maintain a distance of one meter from each other at payment counters and while queuing outside the premises,” said Yii.

He said this after conducting spot checks on several supermarkets in Miri, while accompanied by Miri City Council deputy secretary Henry Jalin and a team of enforcement officers.
