BINTANGOR: The Housewives Social Security Scheme (SKSSR) which was introduced in December 2022 aims to provide social security protection to housewives from domestic disasters and disability while managing the household.

“The implementation of SKSSR makes Malaysia among the four countries in the world that provide special social protection for women through various forms of schemes and benefits,” said Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing.

“Eligible housewives only need to make a contribution of RM120 per year to receive protection for 12 consecutive months, as well as ensure they meet the eligibility requirements to receive benefits.

“To register and contribute under the SKSSR, housewives must be Malaysian citizens or permanent residents who are less than 55 years old,” he said at the opening of the Social Security Organisation (Socso) Counter at Pasar Tamu Bintangor, recently.

He said the opening of the counter received very good response from the people of Meradong District during the two-day operation from May 25 .
