KUCHING: The Malaysian Peat Society (MPS) successfully spearheaded the organisation of the AsiaFlux Conference 2022 at Sarawak Tropical Peat Research Institute (TROPI) from September 20 to September 22 that year.

Its president, Datuk Dr Lulie Melling stated more than 250 delegates from all around the world such as Indonesia, Germany, China, India, and United States of America attended the conference. They were given a chance to develop meaningful scientific interchanges on fluxes.

She also added that MPS members this year will also be attending the International Soil Science Conference (SOILS2023) organised by the Malaysia Society of Soil Science.

“The conference will begin from May 8 to May 11 and they will present the research findings in relations to the research and development (R&D) of topic peatland.

“MPS is also making arrangement to take part in the upcoming Quebec RE3 Conference 2023 from June 11 to June 15 in Canada,” she said in a press release.

She also added that MPS is intending to take part in the upcoming 17th International Peat Congress 2024 in Taizhou, China from August 5 to August 11, 2024.

“This is our current activities in our calendar, and I would also like to reiterate to the members that our objective in addition to promoting research in peat is to sponsor scientific research students who deserve support to help develop academic pool for our country,” she added.
