MIRI: The formation of Malaysia kickstarted the development of Sarawak, says Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau.

He added that “we must admit that our forebears’ decision to ink the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) was a wise move as we have witnessed numerous developments in the state for the past 58 years.”

“Today we get to witness this socioeconomic development in Telang Usan,” he said at the Public Communications Unit (Ukas) Semarak Kemerdekaan programme at Kampung Long Pilah in Baram on Thursday (Sept 16).

On the development of Miri Division, Dennis said he would keep searching for opportunities to develop its tourism industry.

He also said the Long Pilah area would develop progressively with the help of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Among the activities at the programme were hoisting of the national and state flags as well as the planting of ensurai tree.
